Leadership and Excellence "The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport celebrates the delivery of certificates to renew the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system and celebrates Partnership with DNV
Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, chaired by H.E. Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Faraj, received on Wednesday, 24/7/2024, the certificates to renew the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system for the Arab Academy, as well as for 7 maritime entities represented in the Maritime Excellence Center, the Maritime Examination Center, the Maritime Training Institute, the Port Training Institute, the Regional Institute of Maritime Security, Institute of Maritime Safety, and the Diving Program, in addition to Productivity and Quality Institute for the next three years. The new certificate's scope has been extended to include the College of Computers and Information Technology across four branches and the College of Management and Technology in the Misr EL Gedida branch.
This achievement was celebrated in an event attended by His Excellency Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag – President of the Academy, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdel Bary – Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. El-Senousy Balbaa – Vice President for Maritime Affairs, Prof. Dr. Yasser El-Sonbaty – Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Eng. Moataz Radwan – Director of Capabilities and Resources in Africa DNV, and Dr. Yasser Aly Yakout – Dean of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag, President of the Academy, welcomed attendees, stating, "It is a great honor to share this achievement that reflects our unwavering commitment to academic and administrative excellence. Today, we reaffirm the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport's leadership in prioritizing quality." Abdel Ghafar added that the renewed ISO 9001:2015 certificate is a testament to the collective efforts of our institution, fostering teamwork and adaptability to achieve our goals. We enthusiastically welcome the expanded scope encompassing faculties with high student enrollment and the College of Management and Technology in Misr EL Gedida. I extend sincere gratitude to the Deanery of Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center team, the AASTMT community, and our partners at DNV for their invaluable contributions. This milestone marks the beginning of continued development, as we strive to excel in serving our students, academic community, and the broader environment."
The President announced the academy's progress in the Webometrics World Ranking for July 2024, rising to 1766 globally from 1877 in January 2024. The AASTMT secured 44th in Africa, 59th among Arab countries (out of 1366), 20th among North African universities (out of 2060), and 17th in Egypt (out of 81).
According to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024, the AASTMT ranked 306th globally (out of 1963), third in Egypt (out of 46), and 19th in the Arab world (out of 292). Additionally, the AASTMT received a five-star rating in the QS World University Rankings.
The President of the Academy also emphasized that the Colleges of Engineering, Computers and Information Technology have obtained the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) academic accreditation, and the Architecture programs have obtained accreditation from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
The Academy has also obtained accreditation from the Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ZEvA) in Germany for its maritime transport programs at the Bachelor's and Master's levels. Additionally, the College of Management and Technology in Miami has obtained AACSB accreditation, which was followed by the College of International Transport and Logistics at the main campus obtaining the same accreditation.
The Colleges of International Transport and Logistics have also obtained the Golden Accreditation from the German Accreditation Agency FIBAA. Recently, the College of Pharmacy at the main campus and the branch in El Alamein have obtained American accreditation from ACPE. The President emphasized that these achievements align with the academy's vision of providing world-class education through digital transformation, electronic quality systems, and digital quality assurance.
On his part, Engineer Motaz Radwan - Africa IMS Capacity and Resources Manager at DNV, expressed his delight in attending, addressing his thanks to H.E. Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Faraj for the kind invitation.
Radwan said that our relationship with the Academy began in 1999, and today's celebration of the certificate handover marks more than 25 years of partnership and cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, affirming the continuity of this cooperation to reach the highest level.
Radwan also extended his gratitude to the various departments and sectors of the Academy and their continuous cooperation in reaching this stage.
