DNV GL – Business Assurance is proud to participate to the 15th African Fine Coffee Conference & Exhibition in Addis Abeba.
The AFCA conference represent the most important event for the Coffee sector in Africa, attracting participants from all over the world.
The 15th edition is going to be held in Addis Abeba, the Ethiopian capital, from 15th to 17th February 2017, with the following theme: Reshaping African Coffee Industry for Productivity & Investment.
DNV GL is going to participate this year for a second time by sponsoring as exhibitor hosting a speech event for the Conference following the good results obtained after our first participation in 2015, that have opened the way out for DNV GL in the Coffee Sector’s Certification sector.
The speech will be held by Isaac Gachibi, Scheme Manager for the Coffee certification schemes UTZ and 4C, generally acknowledged, by producers and scheme owners, as one of the most reputable figures in the sector of Coffee certification, together with Angela Filotico, F&B Technical Development Specialist. They will participate to the Session 7, about Productivity Initiatives (from 11:30 to 13:00) with a speech titled: “Sustainability in primary production: comparative experience. Models and applicable methodologies for evaluation of the footprint of the agricultural industry. Water as a focus.”
Linda M. Butler, Coffee Sustainability Manager, Global Procurement – Nestle, will act as chairman and the other participants to the Session 7, are:
- Dispelling three myths about smallholder coffee production in East Africa - Paul Stewart, Global Coffee Director, Technoserve
- Control of antestia bug, potato taste defect (PTD) and improving coffee productivity in Rwanda and Burundi - Dr. Daniel N.T. Rukazambuga, Professor of Pest Management, University of Rwanda.
The Event will be attended by all the most important stakeholders within the coffee sector, including Organization of Producers, Certification Scheme Owners, Coffee industry, Institutions, and it will represent a great opportunity for keeping on developing our business presence within the Coffee supply chain sector in the African Continent.
Since food industry and coffee supply chain certification is one of the main African drivers of economy we strongly believe that there are many opportunities for us in this section to strengthen our position in short time and this event will help us in doing this action.
