Who will take the lead in realizing opportunities to achieve financial value from their sustainability strategy?
This year’s Tomorrow’s Value Research (TVR) reveals that a number of companies that have well developed corporate sustainability strategies are failing to demonstrate financial value or capitalize on the opportunities to drive innovation in sustainable business models.
The TVR builds on over ten years of research into how companies’ approach the link between sustainability and core business strategy. The TVR 2016 takes a new approach this year by assessing the degree to which a company’s activity on selected sustainability related aspects (weighted by sector) is delivering business value.“We see a lot of work around sustainability strategy, governance and core business. However, companies seem currently unable to show how this theory is being turned into actual results that drive business and shareholder value. The fact that not one company in the TVR 2016 managed to demonstrate leadership across all areas of research indicates we still have a long way to go” Doug Farquhar, Principal Consultant.
Another key finding reveals that whilst some companies are effectively managing their sustainability issues, they still lack an ability to fully realise business opportunities linked to these issues.
